The product to be introduced this time is an HDMI splitter/selector product from Baseus that supports 4k.
I bought it from aliexpress (https://www.aliexpress.com) and the regular price is $12.74 when the set includes an HDMI cable, and it can be purchased at a slightly lower price depending on sales or coupons applied.
You can also purchase it on Naver Shopping, and if you shop directly, you can find the product by searching for " baseus 4k hdmi switch " on Ali Express.
However, the price sold on Naver Shopping is at a high price on Ali Express, and while I am receiving a separate shipping fee, I have recently been discounting it with Kongdon Daecheop, so I can purchase it at less than half of the price sold in Korea, so I can buy it directly. If you can, there is no reason to buy domestically.
The function itself as an HDMI Switcher is rather simple, but it can be used in two ways.
You can connect two laptops or desktop computers to one monitor and use them interchangeably, or connect two monitors to one computer and use them interchangeably.
The latter function is more suitable for use when connecting multiple devices such as a console game console or set-top box to the TV in the living room, rather than for connecting a computer, due to insufficient HDMI ports.
I have two desktop computers in my room, only one monitor and only one HDMI port, so I bought this to use to connect two computers alternately.
Before I start the whole content of this post, here's a brief summary of my experience.
This was very useful when my monitor only had one HDMI port and I needed to connect two computers. And now it is discounted, so it is cheaper than the purchase price of $12, but compared to the price at the time of purchase and compared to other products sold in Korea, it is a product with high price merit.
Because it has a small size, it occupies a small area even if it is placed on a desk or TV shelf, and it is light in weight, so I thought that it would not be too much of a problem to use it by attaching it to one side of the TV using double-sided tape, etc.
It can be used for two purposes, so it is satisfactory as a function, but if you do not read the manual carefully, you may get hard during the installation process.
Unboxing
Recently, the box design of Baseus products seems to be somewhat fixed. In the past, there were some that had different designs depending on the product, but whether it was to save production cost or not, regardless of the type of product, they had a similar design configuration.
The product's photo and model name are printed on the front side, and the product's installation picture and specifications are simply printed on the back side.
On the side, some features of the product are marked with icons.
This is the HDMI cable I bought as a set. It is made of slightly thick vinyl, the front side is transparent so that the product can be seen, and the back side is opaque so that you can check the printed specifications or certification mark.
Open box
There is no separate sealing seal, so if you open the top cover, you can take out the plastic blister containing the product. At the bottom of the blister is a folding manual unique to the product Baseus.
The product is held firmly inside the blister, so you need to apply some force to pull it out.
The HDMI cable is packaged in a zipper bag, so you can take it out by opening the top left and right.
Components
The components have a composition that can be seen a lot in Baseus products.
The product body, warranty card, manual and unidentified stickers are everything.
The following picture is the manual of the Baseus Matrix HDMI Switcher.
The manual has 5 sides each on the front and back, and it is in the form of a folding manual. One side of the manual is in English and the other side is in Chinese.
The HDMI cable purchased as a set comes with only the warranty card without a separate instruction manual.
Appearance
The product is entirely made of dark gray aluminium.
The manufacturer's name is on the top, and there is a black square switch button used to change the output or input device.
The model name and various certification marks are engraved on the bottom.
There are three HDMI ports on the front, and INPUT, OUTPUT2, OUTPUT1 are labeled below each port.
Each mark is not printed, but the inside of the plastic is painted black, and only the letters are not painted, so there is no need to worry about erasing it. It has a clean look with nothing on the back.
Specifications (weight, size)
It can be seen that the weight of the product is 40g, which is quite light, and when you actually listen to it, you can feel that it is quite light.
The width of the product is 73.7mm, the length of the front and back is 32.0mm, and the thickness is 13.0mm, which is quite small.
When you look at the shape when you hold it in your hand, you can clearly feel that it is smaller than the measured figure.
사용후기
On the front, under the three HDMI ports, INPUT, OUTPUT2, and OUTPUT1 are marked, but INPUT does not unconditionally perform the INPUT function, but also operates as an OUTPUT function depending on the method used.
At first, I installed it without looking at the manual, but it was not set as I wanted, so after wandering for a while, I can finally set it up properly only after checking the manual.
If it is difficult to read the manual in English or Chinese, or if you do not want to read the manual, you can install it by following the instructions below.
When there is only one device to output the screen, such as a monitor and a TV
Turn on the monitor or TV and connect the HDMI cable.
Connect the HDMI cable connected to the monitor or TV to the port labeled INPUT.
Connect the cable connected to one of the devices (computer, set-top box, etc.) that requires output to the screen to the OUTPUT1 or OUTPUT2 port.
Connect the remaining devices (computers, set-top boxes, etc.) to be connected to the HDMI splitter to the remaining HDMI ports.
When there are two devices to output the screen, such as a monitor and a TV
Turn on the device to be connected to the monitor or TV and connect the HDMI cable.
Connect the cable connected to the device (computer, set-top box, etc.) to the port labeled INPUT.
Connect the cable connected to one of the devices (monitor, TV, etc.) to output the screen to the OUTPUT1 or OUTPUT2 port.
Connect the remaining output devices (monitor, TV, etc.) to the HDMI splitter to the remaining HDMI port.
After the connection is complete, if you press the button on the top, the number displayed on the LED on the front changes to No. 1 and No. 2 each time you press it, and the output of the connected equipment is switched accordingly.
As long as you don't experience difficulties during the installation process, the features aren't complicated and it's not difficult to use.
The price is cheap, the material is made of aluminum, and the finish is good, so it does not feel like a cheap product. There is also an LED on the front, which you thought would be nothing, so you can intuitively know the operating status of the product.
There are no separate attachments for attachment, but since it is light in weight, there seems to be no problem to attach it to the back or side of a monitor or TV without placing it on a desk.
It can be used for two purposes, so it is a satisfactory product in terms of function. If you read the manual and install it, it's not a problem, but since there's no particular part that can be called a disadvantage, I forcibly picked it as a disadvantage.
